The woman on a poster for a Tina Turner musical in Germany looks too similar to the star, a court ruled on Wednesday.
As a result, the promotional poster for “Simply the Best – The Tina Turner Story” has been banned.
According to the ruling, which can be appealed, the use of the name Tina Turner alongside a picture of her doppelganger could give the wrong impression, thus setting theatre-goers up for disappointment.
Turner, aged 80, launched her lawsuit against Bavarian events management firm Cofo Entertainment.
Oliver Foster, a tour manager with the company, argued that the “Tina Turner Story” had already had over 100 shows in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Foster said so far not a single audience member had complained about not seeing the real deal.
