The Farmers Movement for Jagaban 2023, a political support group instrumental in Bola Tinubu’s presidential bid, has expressed frustration over perceived neglect and abandonment following the election victory.
In a statement by the group’s National Coordinator, Rilwan Ahmed, on Tuesday, accusations were leveled against President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for appointing members and supporters of opposing parties into key positions, disregarding loyalists of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ahmed lamented the neglect of supporters who played significant roles in Tinubu’s emergence as a candidate and president-elect, emphasizing the need for recognition and reward.
The group warned of the approaching presidential election in three years, vowing to hold accountable those responsible for the alleged failed reward system.
Notably, the statement criticized the appointment process, alleging favoritism towards individuals from Lagos, Osun, and Rivers states, even those associated with opposition parties.
Moreover, the group accused President Tinubu of rewarding undeserving individuals and politicians while neglecting loyal supporters who tirelessly campaigned for his success.
Expressing disappointment in the current situation, Ahmed stressed the importance of loyalty and reiterated the group’s determination to demand accountability from those in power.
In conclusion, the statement emphasized the resolve of Tinubu’s support group to ensure that their efforts are duly recognized and rewarded, warning of consequences if their grievances are not addressed ahead of the upcoming election.
