Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the trial of Kogi State’s Chief-of-Staff, Ali Bello, and his co-defendant, Dauda Suleiman, until Tuesday for the continuation of proceedings.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has charged Bello and Suleiman with a N3 billion fraud case, identified as FHC/ABJ/CR/573/2022, where they are the first and second defendants, respectively.
During Monday’s session, the seventh prosecution witness (PW-7), Aminu Rabiu, testified under the guidance of EFCC counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN). Rabiu, a businessman from Falala Construction Company Limited, confirmed his acquaintance with former Governor Yahaya Bello and the two defendants.
Rabiu stated that his company, which specializes in interior decoration and furniture work, has an account with Zenith Bank and had completed projects for the Kogi State government during Yahaya Bello’s tenure as governor. He detailed, “I demolished and rebuilt the Presidential Lodge in the Kogi State Government House,” and added that he had previously undertaken personal jobs for Yahaya Bello.
