Troops Destroy 444 illegal refineries In Delta As NDDC tackles Epileptic Power Supply

Determined to eradicate all forms of illegal Operations in Oil bunkering, troops of sixth division, Nigerian Army have destroyed no fewer than 444 active ovens used for refining of stolen Crude Oil around Ogbokoko, Atu , its environs in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State. The troops, investigation revealed, destroyed 46 others known to be reservoirs containing an estimated 200,000 liters of stolen crude oil and 90,000 liters of diesel. Although the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.General Onyema Nwarchkwu who spoke to Journalists in Abuja, confirmed the illegal Operations, but DSP Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer in Delta State Police Command, confirmed that the police have arrested several persons Suspected to be behind the activities adding that the Suspects would be Charged to Court on Completion of investigation. He said:” We have arrested several persons Suspected to be behind the activities and they will be Charged to Court when investigation is completed” disclosing that the destruction was conducted in a swoop on the area by the military troops conducting Anti- oil theft Operations in Delta Communities where illegal bunkering activities thrive effectively.

DSP Bright Edafe said that:” The illegal refining site was destroyed in line with extant guidelines of Operation Delta Safe’ adding that the troops and the police have arrested several persons Suspected to be behind the activities including the fleeing Suspects. Meanwhile, The Niger Delta Development Commission ( NDDC) is set to tackle the epileptic power supply in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area, Its environs in Delta State

Speaking to Journalists, Former Management Director, NDDC,. Engr Emmanuel Audu – Ohwavborua, said that they visited the Ovie of Umiaghwa Abraka to formally handover a development Project of the NDDC to the Community, adding that” We have deemed it fit to implement a power improvement project in this Community because the Kingdom is on record to be a very peaceful Community and also plays a good role in the development of the state. The Project is about improving electricity Supply in the area, and We are going to inject more power in that Substation and that’s why they call it injection substation.. There is a big transformer , a 7:5 MVA transformer that this project will install in that Substation and With the associated Circulatory, the Circuit breakers, among others” He said that the Project will upgrade the existing one by 7;5MVA,the Injection substation in Abraka Community already having power problems because they have only one 7;5MVA transformer that is there as it becomes inadequate to be able to give power supply to people around adding that the Project involves installing relief transformers in various places including the University Community that will benefit the Project and Maybe Orogun and Some other Places will also benefit from this project” According to him, the Project will cost a little over 800 million Naira adding that NDDC had few weeks ago intervened in the Sapele Agbor Road Project adding that the project will also place street lights in several parts of Umiaghwa Abraka Community

Pius Akutah’s Alleged Fraud at Nigerian Shippers Council Uncovered

Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.

According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.

Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.

Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.

Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
