Wamakko Hails SAN, Wants Youth To Embrace Education
By Najem Francis, Sokoto
The immediate past governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has commended the first indigene of the state to obtain the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate Nigeria (SAN), Barrister Suleiman Usman.
Wamakko who spoke when Barrister Usman paid him a courtesy visit at his Gawon Nama residence said that the pioneer SAN had brought great honour to the state and was worthy of emulation.
He recalled that Usman was a Councilor in 1991 before he went back to the University to get a degree in Law, went to Law School and became a private legal practitioner, a Special Adviser on Legal Matters, and now the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
He therefore charged the youths in the country to strive and pursue education to the highest level.
Senator Wamakko expressed dismay that most people who were elected councilors and chairmen had abandoned education in the pursuit of politics.
He called on budding politicians in the state and the country at large to imbibe the virtues of patience, perseverance and contentment.
Wamakko who is also the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education further hailed Barrister Suleiman for his determination and doggedness to attain the enviable feat.
He noted that he was a very close friend of Usman’s late father and congratulated him for being the first indigene of the state to attain the feat, through dint of hard work and determination.
“This is an achievement for the entire state; the entire state must rally around him and pray for him. It calls for others to try to work harder to also achieve similar feat, I really rejoice with him.
”I am also happy that the state has witnessed its first SAN in this good, invaluable legal profession, which is a must for any nation.”
Speaking earlier, Barrister Suleiman Usman commended Senator Wamakko for his sustained support, goodwill and fervent prayers for him.
The state Attorney-General and Justice Commissioner also said that his attainment of the rank was a call to service, just as he pledged to continue to pursue truth and justice.

Pius Akutah’s Alleged Fraud at Nigerian Shippers Council Uncovered
Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.
According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.
Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.
Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.
Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
