2027: Kwara PDP Dissolves All Caucuses
Stephen Olufemi Oni l, Ilorin
The Kwara State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the dissolution of all Party Caucuses across the 16 Local Government Areas of the State, with immediate effect.
The decision forms part of the resolutions reached by the State Executive Committee (SEC) of the Party and other critical stakeholders who held closed door meeting with the Party Leader and President of the 8th Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki (CON), during his recent homecoming and stakeholders’ engagements in the State.
The State Publicity Secretary of the Party, Olusegun Olusola Adewara, in a statement on Sunday, said the dissolution marks the beginning of a comprehensive reorganisation of the Party as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
According to him, the journey towards 2027 has effectively commenced, and the Party considers it necessary to refresh its structures, bring in new hands, broaden participation and create a more effective and inclusive political machinery capable of delivering victory for the PDP at all levels.
The decision is also in line with the powers vested in the State Executive Committee of the Party to take necessary steps towards strengthening, repositioning and reorganising the Party in the overall interest of its members and its electoral fortunes.
“We sincerely appreciate all members of the outgoing caucuses for their dedication, sacrifices, loyalty and contributions to the growth and development of the PDP in Kwara State. We wish them well in their future political endeavours and remain confident that they will continue to contribute their wealth of experience to the collective success of our great Party as we move toward 2027.”
The Party also calls on all members to remain calm, united and committed as the necessary mechanisms for the recruitment, constitution and inauguration of new caucuses across the state are already being put in place

Gov AbdulRazaq Lauds President Tinubu over Oko Olowo Bridge
Stephen Olufemi Oni, Ilorin
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has expressed the appreciation of the people of the state to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the commencement of construction work on the Oko Olowo Bridge.
In a statement on Thursday, the Governor said the project underscores the love of the President for the people of the state and his commitment to public welfare.
“Our advocacy on this bridge began since 2019. We again renewed this advocacy as the President settled down in the office in 2023. I recall visiting the Hon. Minister HE David Umahi in 2024 in company of His Excellency Governor of Kogi State Ahmed Usman Ododo, Hon. Mukhtar Shagaya and Hon. Ahmed Yinka Aluko to further press for urgent construction of the bridge as well as Ilorin-Lokoja Road via Omu Aran,” the Governor said in the statement.
“In a visit to the state in October 2025, the Hon. Minister assured us that work will soon begin on the bridge. So what is happening today is a dream come true and promise kept by the President and the Hon. Minister. We are grateful and we see this as an intentional effort to protect lives and property. It is a relief to tens of thousands of our people who live in that axis or travel along that road every other day. We are also confident that the Hon. Minister will graciously expedite action on our other requests, including the Ilorin-Lokoja via Omu Aran, for the good of our people.
“This Oko Olowo project is one of the many other dividends of democracy that our people have enjoyed, and it is another reason that the people of our state will vote massively for the President and all APC candidates in the coming election.
