In a significant political move in Ondo State, numerous key figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), along with their supporters spanning all 18 local government areas, have switched allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Insights reveal that among these defectors are the former vice chairmen from all 18 local governments and an impressive count of 203 councillors. This massive shift was orchestrated under the banner of the Ondo Forum of Vice Chairmen and Councillors.

The official ceremony, marking their transition, took place at the APC’s Secretariat in Akure. Mr. Oyeyinka Akosile, the forum’s coordinator, attributed their decision to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s outstanding governance. The newly joined members pledged their commitment, saying, “Our collective efforts will fortify the APC’s standing.”

Greeting the new members, the APC chairman for Ondo State, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, commended their choice to join the APC. He urged them to uphold the party’s values in their respective wards, reinforcing the inclusive nature of the APC.

Adetimehin further assured the newcomers of a positive experience within the APC, pointing to the party’s commendable reputation both in the state and on the national stage. He ended by saying, “In the APC, we value unity and consider everyone as part of our extended family. Welcome aboard.”
