Boko Haram: Group drums support for military

Abuja, Feb. 28, 2020  God Bless Nigeria Group, a Non-Governmental Organisation, has called for continued support for the Armed Forces of Nigeria in their fight against insecurity in different parts of the country.

The Assistant Coordinator of the group, Madam Theresa Tekena, made the call at a rally on Friday in Abuja in support of the military.

Tekena expressed gratitude to the military for their sacrifices.

She noted that the sacrifice of officers and men of the armed forces to keep Nigeria safe needed to be acknowledged and supported by all instead of condemning them.

This, he said, was necessary to boost their morale.

According to her, at a time like this when we are faced with the challenge of terrorism, we have to give the military the confidence they require when they go to battle.

“Terrorism is not a conventional warfare, thus, has never been easy to defeat anywhere in the world. We are proud of the Nigerian military.

“Under this administration, the army started manufacturing its own vehicles using 70 per cent local content and indigenous technology and human resources. This is a great achievement.

“We are also using this medium to call on the military to intensity efforts to end insurgency in the country.”

Tekena also called on the Amnesty International to stop undermining Nigerian military campaign against terrorism in the North East.

She commended the Federal Government for providing the needed support for the military to win the war against insurgency and other security challenges confronting the nation.

Addressing the group at the Defence Headquarters, the Chief of Defence Civil Military Cooperation, Rear Adm. Obed Ngalabak, appreciated the group for their support for the military.

Ngalabak assured that the military would continue to do its best to ensure that peace was restored to every part of the country.

He stated that the military had achieved a lot in the war against insurgency in the North East by making sure that no part of Nigerian territory was under the control of terrorist groups.

Ngalabak also stated that the military was committed to ensuring the return of peace to every part of the country.

“Nigerians should understand that we are not sleeping; we are doing our best and we will continue to do our best to make sure that normal life return to everywhere.

“We appreciate your support, we will continue to do our best and we thank you and look forward to better time,’’ he said.

Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.

According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.

Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.

Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.

Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
