2 men in court for allegedly stealing IE armoured cable wires

Two men on Monday appeared in a Magistrates’ court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, for allegedly stealing  armoured cable wires from five transformers worthN560,000 belonging to the Ikeja Electric Plc (IE).  Electrics(IE).

The police charged  Victor Mark, 22, and Audu Sanni, 28, whose addresses are not provided, with conspiracy, felony to wit stealing and wilful damage.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, InspAdegeshin Famuyiwa, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Jan.18 at about midnight in Alogba Orewa and Alogba str; Palapo area, Alogba area of Ikorodu of Lagos state.

She alleged that the defendants willfully damaged the five transformers installed at the aforementioned places.

The offence, she said, contravened the provisions of  sections 411, 351(1) and 287 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Magistrate B. A. Sonuga admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case until Feb. 25 for mention.
