Court remands man for allegedly stealing 2 phones, 2 bags of ginger

A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, on Friday ordered that a 35-year-old man, Abdullahi Musa, who allegedly stole two cell phones and two bags of ginger, be remanded in correctional centre.

The police charged Musa with three counts of criminal conspiracy, theft and unlawful possession of property suspected to be stolen.

Magistrate Abdulaziz Ibrahim who gave the order, adjourned the case until March 10 for hearing.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Esther Bishen told the court that the complainant, Jamilu Ado of Ibadan Street reported the matter at the station on Jan. 21.

Bishen said the complainant alleged that the defendant broke into his house and stole two phones and two bags of ginger.

The offence, she said, contravened the provisions of sections 58, 270 and 393 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.

When the charge was read to him, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor prayed the court for an adjournment to enable her call witnesses to prove the allegation.
