Victor Osimhen, the striker for Napoli, has been honored as the top striker in Serie A for the 2022/23 season. The official Italian top-flight division announced this achievement on their Twitter account on Friday. Osimhen emerged victorious over fierce competition from Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan and Rafael Leao of AC Milan to secure the prestigious award. His remarkable performances were instrumental in Napoli’s triumph, leading them to their first Serie A title in over three decades, since the 1989/1990 season.

Napoli’s Serie A triumph in the 2022/23 season marks the club’s third league title in its history, having previously won it in 1987 and 1990.

Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian striker, is on the brink of becoming the first African player to clinch the top scorer title in Serie A. With a total of 25 goals to his name, he currently holds a four-goal lead over his closest competitor, Lautaro Martinez, with only one game remaining in the season. Osimhen’s exceptional goal-scoring form has positioned him at the forefront of the race for the prestigious accolade.

In addition to his remarkable goal-scoring feat, Victor Osimhen has surpassed George Weah’s record for the most goals scored by an African player in Serie A, reaching a tally of 47 goals in the Italian top-flight league.

Furthermore, Osimhen’s success is not the only cause for celebration within Napoli. Two of his teammates, Kim Min-Jae and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, have also received prestigious awards. Kvaratskhelia, the Georgia international, has been named the Serie A Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2022-23 season, thanks to his impressive contributions of 12 goals and 13 assists in 33 games. He follows in the footsteps of Rafael Leao, who claimed the title for Milan in the previous season.

Meanwhile, Kim Min-Jae of Napoli has been recognized as the best defender in Italy, further solidifying the team’s success in the league. Lastly, Napoli’s coach, Luciano Spalletti, has been honored with the Best Coach award, showcasing his exceptional leadership and tactical prowess throughout the season.

Transfer: Gabriel Jesus Could Leave Arsenal as Napoli Show Interest

Published

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus could leave the club this summer, with Italian side Napoli reportedly interested in signing the Brazilian forward.

According to Sky Italia, Napoli’s new manager, Massimiliano Allegri, is a long-term admirer of Jesus and is keen to explore the possibility of bringing him to Serie A.

Jesus and Allegri share the same agent, Giovanni Branchini, who was reportedly spotted at Napoli’s pre-season training camp in Castel di Sangro on Friday.

A meeting could reportedly take place to discuss a potential move for the Arsenal forward.

Napoli’s interest could depend on their ability to offload one of their existing strikers. The club would reportedly need to find new destinations for Lorenzo Lucca, who spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, or Romelu Lukaku before making a move for Jesus.

Arsenal are reportedly willing to consider offers of around £18 million for the 29-year-old, who has entered the final year of his contract with the Gunners.

Jesus joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022 and could now be heading for a new challenge in Italy if Napoli’s interest develops into a formal transfer.

LaLiga: Mourinho Introduces Four New Rules at Real Madrid

Published

on

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly introduced a series of new rules at the club after identifying what he considered bad habits within the dressing room.

Mourinho returned to the Spanish giants for a second spell this summer and has already begun implementing changes to improve discipline and professionalism within the squad, according to AS.

One of the new measures concerns players’ diets. The Portuguese manager has reportedly ended the freedom for players to eat whatever they choose, with the club’s nutritionist now responsible for overseeing their meals.

Under the new system, menus will be carefully structured and determined according to the nutritional needs of the players.

Mourinho has also introduced a disciplinary measure for players who arrive late to training. Such players will reportedly be required to undergo individual gym sessions.

Another rule concerns injury rehabilitation. Players recovering from injuries will now be expected to complete their rehabilitation at the club’s training ground under the supervision of Real Madrid’s medical and fitness staff rather than working independently with external personnel.

The changes are part of Mourinho’s reported efforts to establish greater discipline and control within the Real Madrid squad following his return to the club.
