Governor Alia’s decision: Newly hired civil servants sacked, Perm Secs’ appointments reversed.

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has terminated the employment of certain civil servants hired during the previous administration under Governor Samuel Ortom.In a statement released on Wednesday, Governor Alia’s spokesperson, Tersoo Kula, announced the directive of the Governor regarding the termination of employment for certain civil servants.With immediate effect, Governor Alia has instructed civil servants and individuals appointed as Permanent Secretaries by the previous administration from January 2023 onwards to return to their previous positions.Governor Alia has nullified all appointments made by the previous administration in the Benue State Civil Service from May 2022 to date. Additionally, any postings and transfers made in the state civil service from October 2022 to date are also deemed null and void.All individuals affected by the directive are instructed to adhere to the directive immediately. The statement declares that any recent appointments made into the State Civil Service by the previous administration from May 2022 until now are null and void.

The statement further instructs that individuals who have retired but are still occupying their offices or duty posts due to extensions or contract appointments should retire immediately.

It also requires civil servants who are eligible for retirement but have not submitted their retirement letters or notices to do so without delay and proceed with their retirement.

Additionally, all civil servants and individuals appointed as Permanent Secretaries from January 2023 onwards are directed to return to their previous positions immediately.

Furthermore, all postings and transfers made within the state civil service from October 2022 until now are declared null and void.
