FCTA Releases N4.8 Billion Statutory Allocation for December 2023
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has disbursed a total of N4,816,227,915.56 billion as the statutory allocation for December 2023, marking a slight increase from the N4,729,281,486.64 billion allocated in November 2023.
Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, the FCT Minister of State, presided over the 185th Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting, commending the collaboration between the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD) and Area Council authorities in waste collection and management.
Breakdown of the allocation shows N2,364,151,892.54 billion distributed among the six area councils, with Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) receiving N549,980,396.03 million, followed by Gwagwalada, Kuje, Bwari, Abaji, and Kwali.
Additionally, N2,452,076,023.02 billion was allocated to other stakeholders, including Primary School Teachers, Pension Funds, Training Fund, and Employer Pension Contribution.
During the meeting, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud urged the FCT Primary Health Care Board to expand its services beyond routine immunization, focusing on drug supply and personnel enhancement.
Key attendees included Mr. Samuel Atang, Hon. Bitrus Garki, Mrs. Anthonia Unigwe, Mrs. Omolola Olanipekun, and Chairpersons of the six area councils.
Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.
According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.
Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.
Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.
Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
