The Federal Polytechnic, Offa in Kwara State has matriculated a total number of 9,925 students into various academic programmes for its 2023/2024 academic session.
Speaking during the 30th matriculation ceremony of the federal institution in Offa on Wednesday, the Rector of the institution, Engineer Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin, who noted that the school has zero tolerance for all vices, specifically charged the students to shun prostitution and Bobrisky kind of lifestyle.
The matriculation ceremony marked official entry of new 4,356 students into Higher National Diploma (HND), 3,049 students into National Diploma (ND) full-time and 2,520 students into part-time programmes for the
2023/2024 academic session.
The Rector, who congratulated the matriculating students on their admission into the institution, admonished them to shun all acts of disobedience, truancy, absenteeism, and indecent
dressing.
“Do not engage in cultism and hooliganism, cyber-bullying, negative social media usage, and all other forms of cyber crimes,” the Rector charged.
Engineer Dr. Kadiri charged the students on total adherence to oath of allegiance and obedience to the rules and regulations of constituted authorities in the institution, adding that the oath conferred on them the rights, privileges and responsibilities of genuine students of the institution.
He also advised the students to always remain security conscious, saying that the situation in the country today requires everyone to be at alert.
“Therefore, always let your friends, colleagues or roommates know
your whereabouts. Avoid night crawling, and do not walk alone in
secluded places. If you notice any strange item or persons with
strange movement, notify the security unit immediately. Should
you have any complaints or personal worries, do not hesitate to
contact the Directorate of Students Affairs and SERVICOM Unit for counseling and necessary actions,” he added.
The Rector also said that, together with his team and support of stakeholders, he had within the last 12 months, repositioned and transformed the polytechnic.
