Acme Multimedia Integration, LAPO Microfinance Bank Plc, and Grand Oak have partnered to present the fifth edition of the Lagos Young Entrepreneurs Award, aimed at recognizing and rewarding young business owners who are driving economic growth in Lagos State.
Saheed Okeowo, CEO and Creative Director of the LAYE2024 Award, announced the event during a recent press conference in Lagos. He emphasized the importance of the award in celebrating Lagos’s entrepreneurial spirit and inspiring future business leaders.
“The Lagos Young Entrepreneurs Award, which began five years ago, is dedicated to inspiring young entrepreneurs, acknowledging their hard work, and promoting entrepreneurship,” Okeowo said.
He noted that Lagos State’s position as the fifth-largest economy in Africa is significantly supported by its entrepreneurs, who deserve recognition for their contributions. Over the years, the LAYE Awards have empowered more than 100 young entrepreneurs across the state.
The awards ceremony is set for October, with criteria for eligibility including residency and business operations in Lagos for the past five years, being under 45 years of age, and serving as CEO of a registered business entity. Candidates must also be nominated and receive votes to qualify.
Ademola Adesokan, spokesperson for LAYE2024, shared that there have been requests to expand the award program to other states and widen the age range. However, he confirmed that the current focus remains on Lagos, in line with the program’s established goals and template.
