Lawmaker laments lack of Roads linking LG Headquarters in Oporoma

Hon. Preye Oseke, a member of the House of Representatives representing Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency in Bayelsa State has lamented the lack of internal roads linking the headquarters of the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Oporoma by both the state and federal governments.
Speaking to our correspondent in his office in Abuja, Oseke said despite several promises made by previous and present governments in Bayelsa State especially the Henry Seriake- administration, the construction of the link road to Oporoma has remain a sham.
According to him, Southern Ijaw is the largest federal constituency and local government area but it lacks any federal road that is running in to the interlands adding that it has remained a concern to his people.
“It is expected that some of those federal roads that connect most of the local government headquarters to the federal roads is supposed to be constructed by the state government.
“We are also aware that the present outgoing administrations has always made a lot of promises during its elections and at different public forum of how they will take a road to Oporoma the headquarters of my constituency, unfortunately this has not happened and noting has been done.
Oseke, who is a member of All Progressive Congress, APC promised that an APC-led government in Bayelsa State will speedily ensure the completion of the road and others such as Ekeremor and Brass in an effective partnership with the Federal Government.
“Our party is ready for the governorship elections in the state coming up few weeks from now, as expected we know that we will have victory and when we have victory the incoming APC administration has a very robust development plan because I personally have been working with the APC candidate for well over 5years and I know his capacity. He is someone who is economical with words but a go-getter who assuredly on assumption of office most of our communities in the inter lands will be connected by roads, so we are looking forward to it.
‘‘Also, we will be looking at any opportunities under the some of the Niger delta intervention and parastatals to bring development to our people’’ he explained.
As the deputy Chairman, House Committee on Petroleum Resources, Oseke expressed worry over the budgetary challenges facing the country, however called for a collaborative effort between the state and federal government.
“Although we are aware of budgetary constrains it is always very difficult to push for a major project going into some of our communities we know that the national budget is a platform where you have contending geopolitical interest, so it is not a walk in the park, that a road could be incorporated into the national budget, but in all the best bet is for the state government to embark on the construction of some of this roads and we believe that when the APC comes on board this are some of the priorities that will be handled”, he said.

London Property Dispute Exposes Alleged Corruption, Forgery by Nigerian Politician and Lawyer

A recent judgment by the UK’s First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber) has shed light on a complex web of alleged corruption and forgery involving a Nigerian politician and a senior lawyer. The case revolves around a disputed property in North London, valued at 79 Randall Avenue.
The property was purchased in 1993 under the name “Tali Shani,” which is allegedly an alias for late General Jeremiah Useni, a powerful member of the Abacha regime. Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, claimed the property was gifted to him by “Mr. Tali Shani” in 2021 as payment for legal services. However, the tribunal dismissed this claim, describing it as “fabricated” and “fraudulent.”
The tribunal’s ruling highlights the alleged involvement of Ozekhome and his associates in fabricating documents, including a Nigerian passport, National Identification Number (NIN), and Tax Identification Number (TIN). The NIN was reportedly created remotely from Monaco using a non-compliant photograph and bypassing biometric requirements ¹.
The Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA Resource Centre) has petitioned the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate Ozekhome and others over alleged fraud, forgery, and unlawful attempt to acquire the London property. The ICPC has launched an investigation, and the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) has also taken notice of the case ²

The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has resigned from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s cabinet amid a growing controversy surrounding his academic credentials.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga confirmed Nnaji’s resignation in a statement issued late Tuesday.
Nnaji’s exit follows mounting allegations that his academic certificates were forged. Investigations revealed that the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), disowned the Bachelor of Science degree he claimed to possess, stating that he never completed his studies at the institution and was therefore not issued any certificate.
According to UNN Vice-Chancellor Prof. Simon U. Ortuanya, Nnaji was admitted in 1981 but failed to meet the requirements for graduation.
In a related development, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) reportedly disowned the certificate of national service presented by Nnaji, describing it as fake.
His resignation marks the latest in a series of controversies to hit the Tinubu administration over questions of integrity and accountability among public officials.
