The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Senatorial Candidate during the last general elections for Nasarawa West Senatorial district of Nasarawa state,Dr. Muhammed Wakili El Kabir, has boosted that he was highly optimistic that the awaiting judgement of his petition before an election tribunal would be nullified, owing to the fact that his case was genuine and reasonable.

The candidate made the assertion while briefing journalists on the outcome of the said matter before the tribunal in Lafia on Wednesday.

Our reporter learnt that El Kabir, had filed a petition before the Election Petition Tribunal seating in Lafia, Nasarawa state challenging the declaration of Ahmed Wadada of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), as the winner of the Nasarawa West Senatorial District by the Independent National Election Commission (INEC)

“Today is a glorious day to us and it is a day that we need to give thanks to Almighty God because today we have come to the end of litigation and what is left for us now is judgment.

“We have approached the tribunal not because of our personal interest, but because of the interest and yearnings of our electorates. NNPP as a party has been cheated because we our logo was not on the election papers due to INEC irregularities. At the moment we are just waiting for the judgment and hopefully by the special grace of God justice would be dispensed on the right direction.

“I have said this often at the tribunal that in the human rights act of 1997 it says and I quote,’litigation is a fundamental right of every citizen wherever he or she find himself. So if one feels aggrieved in any ramification the only hope as a citizen is nothing other than the judiciary because it is mass hope of a common man.We have been cheated and our mandate were rubbed” El Kabir stressed.

He continued,”INEC have done something to us which indeed if we don’t do it by way of seeking justice INEC will continue to do same to majority of people. Such issue like ours are so rampant in the country.

“Infact,we have no business with anybody, but our litigation is with INEC. Hon. Ahmed Aliyu Wadada that INEC declared as the winner of the said election is my brother,my political associate and we have nothing in common with each other , but we are trying to ensure that justice is prevailed in this issue.

According to him,Nigerians were singing and yearning for democracy, but that there was no true reflection of democracy based on what INEC have done which culminated to situations where most of their electorates, supporters and voters could not even identify with the real logo of their political party.

He said, his prayers before the tribunal was to nullify the election as stipulated by the constitution, adding that the said election was a nullity because there was no compliance.

Answering a question as regards the rumors making the rounds that some major stakeholders within the state are they ones who instigated him to go to tribunal inorder to destabilize Wadada’s stay at the red chambers he said,” This is not true nobody is behind my going to tribunal. Rather there are speculations that the present governor of Nasarawa state,Engineer Abdullahi Sule is preparing my opponent to succeed him in 2027
