APC Chieftain Urges Relocation of NNPCL and NIMASA to Niger Delta, Calls for Transparent Intentions

By  Milcah  Tanimu

Yekini Nabena, a former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has advised President Bola Tinubu to consider relocating the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) to the Niger Delta region for increased efficiency. Nabena also suggested moving the Nigerian Ports Authority to the Niger Delta. Additionally, he proposed relocating the Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment to either Kano or Anambra States. This recommendation aligns with the ongoing discussions about potentially moving some departments of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria to Lagos. Nabena emphasized the symbolic importance of federal agencies as symbols of Nigerian unity and called for transparency regarding the intentions behind these relocations. He also expressed surprise at the National Assembly’s apparent silence on recent developments in the country.
