The Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI) says it has trained 50 youths on agripreneurship to tackle restiveness among the youth and alleviate poverty in the country.
The Executive Director of ARMTI, Dr Olufemi Oladunni, made this known in a press statement in Abuja on Monday.
Oladunni said that ARMTI had taken it upon itself to embark on an aggressive mission to churn out a mass of youths with requisite skills and empowerment.
He said this was with a view to unlock the huge potentials in Agribusiness to create wealth and jobs for the youths.
Oladunni said that agriculture had the capacity to solve the vices of criminality, fraud and delinquencies among the youths while solving the unemployment problems in the country.
“Skills such as records keeping, resource and cost management, farm planning and project management as well as modern trends in practice, marketing and processing of agriculture are some of the missing links.
‘’These links have led to low yield, huge post – harvest losses and the general apathy towards agriculture in the country,’’ he said.
Oladunni said the training covered in-depth practical exposition to the intricacies of effective farm practices and strategies as well as practical case studies and brainstorming exercises.
He added that the participants were also taken on field study visits to witness the practical aspect of what they had been exposed to in class.
