Troops of the three Battalion have uncovered an active illegal refining site in Enokora Community in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State

It was gathered that the site Contained three cooking ovens and six reservoirs used for illegal oil refining while horrible Objects were also recovered within the area.

But in a statement regarding the Clampdown signed by Its Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwarchkwu has said, adding that investigation was ongoing with a view to ensuring those involved in the act are brought to book.

Meanwhile, Police Public Relations Officer in Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe who spoke to Journalists on Friday, said that the troops of 3 Battalion Clampdown on an active illegal oil refining site Containing three Cooking ovens and six reservoirs at Enokora Community in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, adding that acting on credible information, the troops conducted anti – oil theft Operations on 29 August,2023, intercepted a wooden boat loaded with 110 sacks of illegal refined Ago adding that the vigilante troops equally intercepted two vehicles loaded with 18 sacks of illegal refined AGO within the same general area. DSP Bright Edafe confirmed that no fewer than sixteen Suspected Kidnappers were arrested in Ughelli North on Thursday while Operatives of the Police were acting on intelligence gathering. According to him:” We have arrested in their Operational hideouts, our Operatives swooped on the Suspects were they were sharing their booty inside Ughelli North forest. Upon interrogation, these Suspects Confessed to many Criminal activities including kidnapping high profiled members of the Public. They are Currently being detained at the Police headquarters in Asaba” disclosing that the police recovered charms, cut to size Pistols, guns and cartridges including unspecified amount of money while three of their Victims were released unhurt

In another development, it was Jubilation galore in Aniocha Ugbo, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State as His Royal Majesty, Agbogidi Obi Victor Chukwumalieze 1 of Onicha Ugbo, members of the Council of Chiefs and Subjects Converged at the palace ground to celebrate the victory in a suit against the traditional ruler, the Obi in Council and three other persons by One Obodoechie Nwokolo. The three defendants are the Diokpa of Ogbe Obi, Mr Nwarchkwu Okocha, Diokpa Onyema Anene. Delivering Judgement in the suit filed by the Plaintiff to Challenge his removal as the Head of Ogbe Obi title holders/ Stripping him of the Ozo title, the Chairman Aniocha North District Court, Onicha Ugbo, Mrs Onichabor , held that the Case lacked merit and accordingly struck it out. The court Chairman who was supported by two members of the Court, explained that after careful Consideration of the Preliminary Objection raised by Çhris Njiokwuemeni Esq, Counsel to Obi Chukwuemialeze 1 and others ( defendants ) and the reply by Nnamdi Ogbechi Sulieman, Counsel to the Plaintiffs, the Court was Convinced that the Case did not come to Court through due process. The Court also agreed with the defence Counsel that the name Nnamdi Ogbechi Sulieman was not known or Contained in the roll of legal practitioners in the Supreme Court of Nigeria that Could enable the Plaintiff’s Counsel to Practice as legal Practitioner in Nigeria or anywhere else. Accordingly, the Court held that since the Plaintiff’s Counsel had nothing before the Court to show that his name ( Nnamdi Ogbechi Sulieman) was on the Supreme Court roll of legal practitioners entitled to Practice as legal Practitioners , he was not entitled to have filed the suit in the first instance
