The Association of Former Telecoms Employees of Nigeria ( ATEN ) has condemn the wrong inclusion of the names of ATEN executive officials/members in the list of PTAD by the lawyer of the Nitel/Mtel Pensioners Association.
Speaking to newsmen in Benin City, on Monday , the General Secretary of the union , Comrade Francis Ogbakpan disclosed that such inclusion was done delibrately by the Nitel/Mtel Pensioners Association through one of their member, who deceitfully lifted all the list of former workers of the Corporate Hqtrs, Central Zone with its territories and Lagos Zone/ Lagos territories as members of Nitel/Mtel Association that is being paid monthly pension by PTAD.
Ogbakpan, said, “this was dubiously done without separation into their different Associations. Members of ATEN should discountenance the list of Nitel/Mtel Pensioners Association members which is being posited as those currently receiving monthly pension payment from PTAD. ”
He stated that, “the fact remains indisputable that ATEN was the only Association that went to the liquidation court which held between 2012 and 2014 where buyout pension of 20years and other entitlements was awarded to it as Secured judgment Creditor. ”
He appealed to those who have opted for payment of buyout pension instead of the monthly pension that is not supported by law as applies to a legally certified dead limited liability companies (Nitel and Mtel) to excercise patience as the Chairman of the National Council on Privatisation, the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and the President Muhammadu Buhari are known to be respecters of rule of law and to be equitable in their actions/decisions.
Adding that, ” the BPE is likely to be instructed to pay the buyout pension to our members soon”
