Daniel Bwala, a former aide to the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has labeled rumors about relocating the federal capital from Abuja to Lagos as a political move. Bwala, in response to the proposed relocation of some Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) departments and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to Lagos, asserted that the speculation is merely political. He emphasized that Abuja would remain the capital of Nigeria, citing the established status of the city. This comes amid discussions about the potential move of government entities to Lagos, a notion dismissed by political figures, including Bola Tinubu.
