Award On Developmental Strides: Groups, NUJ Hail Kwara Governor

By Steve Oni, Ilorin

Two sociocultural groups – Igbaja Progressives Union and Ubandawaki Ward Association as well as the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara State Council, have hailed the rating of the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the first on the table of developmental strides among the states controlled by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the month of March, 2021.

The groups, in separate statements made available to newsmen in Ilorin on Monday congratulated AbdulRazaq for what they described as an enviable achievement .

They noted with delight that despite the lean purse of the state government, the governor through prudent management of the meagre resources has been able to implement developmental projects in addition to regular payment of salaries of workers.

The State Council of NUJ in a statement signed by its Chairman, Umar AbdulWahab and the Secretary, Omotayo Ayanda said: “We are delighted with the recent report published by the Progressive Governor’s Forum’s (PGF) magazine which rated your administration first on the table of developmental strides recorded across States governed by All Progressive Congress (APC) for March 2021.

“We are convinced that this feat attained by this current administration in Kwara State for the second time in recent times is not a fallacy but a confirmation of the developmental indices which the union can also attest to.

“That Kwara secured 19 strides to emerge best across the APC States further attest to the changing narratives of governance in Kwara State.

“We urge you not to relent in your efforts to transform the State even in the face of daunting challenges.”

Also, in a statement signed by its chairman, Pastor Toyin Alabi, the Igbaja Progressive Union congratulated AbdulRazaq over the award, saying that: “This is not a mean feat considering the lean resources in the state since your assumption of office

“We are also delighted because this award is coming for the second time in two years and shows the commitment and dedication of your administration to the development of the state.

“As you continue the good work in taking the state to an enviable height, we urge your Excellency to pay attention to the development of rural areas in terms of investment in mechanised farming and Agro-processing to stem rural- urban migration and increase developments across the state.”
