In line with the policy thrust of Federal and Bauchi State Government on ensuring transparency and accountability in public service, the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency (BSPHCDA) has presented its 2016 Audited financial statement to the public.
Presenting the 2016 financial report to journalists in Bauchi, the Executive Chairman of the Agency, Pharmacist Adamu Ibrahim, Gamawa said the sum of 607,193,560 was spent from the 821,813,830 basket fund contribution of the Bauchi State Government, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Dangote Foundation.
According to Gamawa, under the tripartite arrangement, Bauchi State Government Contributed 163,269,157 which was 70 percent of the total sum, while the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation contributed 81,163,852 and 81,634,631 been contribution the Dangote Foundation respectively, which collectively accounts for 30 percent in the basket fund.
While explaining how the money was spent, The Executive Chairman of the State Agency said “242,401,399 were expended on Property, Plant and Equipment, Good Governance and Accountability took 34,531,150 and Improving Accessibility and Utilization took 131, 260, 500. Other areas where the funds are expended includes Vaccine Security/ Cold Chain which gulped 60, 804, 401 , Monitoring and Evaluation 104, 129, 550, Community Mobilization 9, 314, 400 and Staff Training that attracted 24, 323, 700”.
In trying to give reason why it took the Agency so long to present the 2016 financial report, Gamawa said “the reason is that, it took us and our financial partners some time to agree on the firm that would carry out the audit report. And even after that, we rejected the first report because it does not captures the entire 20 LGAs of the state and so the auditing firm had to go back to the field again. But the good thing is that at every step of the exercise, our partners in the tripartite arrangement are fully involved in the process and at the end of it all we have a sound financial report that now published on our website for public consumption”.
The presentation attracted Media Executives, Civil Society Organizations and Development partners.
