Borno Govt Keeps Mum Over N2b Monthly Largesse Trending Report

Borno State Government is kept sealed lips over reports trending in the Social Media, over an alleged disclosure of N2Billion monthly allocation from the Presidency in addition to it’s statutory allocations.
Some report made in Hausa and Kanuri, is currently trending in the media, in which President Buhari was quoted as making the disclosure.
According to the report, the President disclosure it while responding to an earlier remark by the Shehu of Borno, Umar Garbai Elkanemi, asking for more assistance to Borno State.
The duo were reported to have spoken at the Shehu’s palace, during a courtesy call on the Shehu if Borno by President Muhammadu Buhari, during the commemoration if the World Humanitarian Day.
The report quoted the Shehu as thanking the President for the numerous assistance to the state, but requested for more, against the growing cist of managing victims of the Boko Haram crisis and repentant Boko Haram insurgents.
According to it, the President was apparently irked, and collected the microphone, only to tell the Shehu that, he has been giving N2B monthly to Borno State in addition to it’s monthly statutory allocations, and funds earlier approved for the upkeep if repentant Boko Haram elements.
The said report, which was ostenssibly sponsored by the opposition did not go down well with most citizens, but the Government has not deemed it necessary to clarify what transpired during the courtesy visit to the Shehu’s palace.
But Senior Special Assistant to the President, Garba Shehu has taken to his Facebook handle to refute the said report, with a warning to the public to disregard it as a fake news.
Garba Shehu explained that, his principal did not make any such comment while in Maiduguri, neither was there any need for him to have done so.
Prominent citizens if Borno State, mist if whom were at the event also denied overhearing any such comment, even as they condemned opposition elements in the state, as being the masterminds.
Governor Zulum has been at the bashing end of opposition antics, who appear desperate in demarketing his return ambition.
Our correspondent reports that, some sections of the opposition had also accused the Governor of sealing their party offices; a claim the APC vehemently denied.
There has been no official reaction from the Governor on on either of these pieces of mischief, causing apprehension, that the allegations may be regarded as the truth.
Most of the people spoken to in Maiduguri feel that, Governor Zulum is being too liberal by allowing serious issues, as the N2Billion allegation to go unchallenged.
