On March 2, 2024, Burna Boy achieved yet another milestone in his career as he headlined a sold-out concert at the TD Arena in Boston as part of his ‘I Told Them’ tour. The arena, with a capacity of 20,000, was filled to the brim with fans eagerly awaiting the Nigerian superstar’s performance.
During the concert, Burna Boy was honored with a plaque by the Mayor of Boston, commemorating the day as Burna Boy Day in the city.
This achievement follows his historic sold-out concerts at the Scotia Bank Arena in Toronto, where he became the first African artist to sell out the 19,000-capacity venue for consecutive shows. Prior to Boston, Burna Boy also made a successful stop in Montreal as part of his tour.
Since his breakthrough onto the international scene in 2018 with his hit single ‘YE’, Burna Boy has consistently elevated Nigerian and African music to new heights. He made history as the first Nigerian mainstream pop artist to win a Grammy Award for his album ‘Twice As Tall’, and holds the record for the most Grammy nominations by a Nigerian artist with 10 nominations. Additionally, he is the first African artist to win three consecutive BET Awards.
Burna Boy’s impact extends to live performances as well. He has become the first African artist to headline stadium concerts in both the United Kingdom and the United States, setting the standard for live performances across the continent.
