Car dealer docked for alleged breach of trust


A car dealer, Bello Tambuwal, was on Thursday docked in a Wuse Zone Six Magistrates’ Court, for alleged criminal breach of trust.

Tambuwal of Limpopo Street Maitama, Abuja, is charged with criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The Prosecution Counsel, Okonko Udo, told the court that the defendant was reported to have collected a used Mercedez C300 from Alhaji Surajo Abbas on Aug.30.

He said that the defendant and Abbas had an agreement that the car should be sold for N8.3million.

Udo told the court that the defendant sold the car to another car dealer for N7million.

Udoh alleged that the defendant received the money and wilfully failed to give the money to Abbas.

Udo told the court that, during police investigation the defendant admitted to the crime.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code Law.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Magistrate Umar Dodo, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N250, 000 and two sureties in like sum.

Dodo also ordered that the sureties must submit two recent passport photographs and means of identification.

The magistrate adjourned the matter until Nov.10, for hearing.
