Chelsea has provided an injury update on two Super Eagles-eligible midfielders, Carney Chukwuemeka and Lesley Ugochukwu, ahead of their Emirates FA Cup clash against Preston North End.
Chukwuemeka, who scored his first senior goal for Chelsea in August but suffered a knee injury, has returned to full team training for reconditioning. Despite being in the matchday squad against Burnley in October, a relapse kept him out of action. It remains uncertain whether he will be included in the squad for the Preston North End match.
Ugochukwu, the France U21 international and nephew of retired Nigeria international Onyekachi Apam, is ruled out for the encounter as he continues his rehabilitation program. He suffered a relapse of a hamstring injury during Chelsea’s Premier League game at Wolverhampton Wanderers and has played only one game out of a possible eight in all competitions due to the ailment.
