The College of Bishops and Clergy Councils (CBCC) on Saturday held a special prayer session and candle light procession for Sen Rochas Okorocha .
Addressing press men after the program in Abuja, coordinator of the group , Bishop King Nwanko said it took the initiative to pray for the senator in the face of apparent persecution by the governor of Imo state , Hope Uzudima.
“We are all aware of the unfortunate developments in Imo state, which are all designed to intimidate the senator , but God can not be mocked. Bishop King maintained.
He further said, the anger of God is already on the governor as events have shown. The level of insecurity , poverty , under development in the last few months in Imo state is a clear vindication of the senator. God is telling the world that Rochas Okorocha is not the cause of Imo peoples problems.
“God is showing us how he protects his own people” the clergy called for intensified prayers for the senator and the people of Imo State.
“We have come to God to bless our senator and forgive those who are taking up the role of God almighty because they are in power today.
“Our advise is that, power is transcient, and should be used for the benefit of the masses ” Gov Hope is not ruling with the fear of God. This is demonstrated in his words, deeds and actions but God will not let Imo people down.
The clerics urged sen Okorocha to continue to be calm in the presence of provocation. “Your self restraint is highly commendable and we urge you to continue looking up to God who is the author and finisher of our faith.
“We are reminding you of the blessings of God in your life even before you became governor and now senator, the cleric urged sen Okorocha to continue to wait on God for vindication.
“Evil can never triumph over God’s own children, You are a child of destiny ,continue to preach peace ,unity and development and God will not let you down.
The clerics further charged senator Okorocha to await God’s judgement on his persecutors , saying it will only be a matter of time.
