The Kwara State government has emphasised the need for love to be shared across religious and ethnic divides to build the State.
Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi who identified politicians and civil servants as stakeholders in the state building project made the call at the Carol Service organised by the Government House Christian Public Servants Fellowship themed “Emmanuel” held at the Banquet hall, Ilorin.
Mr Alabi urged everyone irrespective of affiliation to have a change of mindset for the state to be moved forward adding that it is high time the State was built using the instrument of love.
He therefore charged all and sundry to be dedicated to their duties and desist from grapevine, blackmail and any act of pulling others down because anything sown, shall be fully reaped.
Mr Alabi called on the people to support and pray for the Government to succeed in the task of building a strong and virile State.
Speaking at the Service, the Bishop Anglican Diocese of Kwara, the Right Reverend Sunday Timothy Adewole whose exhortation came from the Book of Mathew 1:22-23 said all the names given to Jesus Christ in the Bible have significant and therapeutic meaning especially Emmanuel which means “God with us” and “man was created in the image of God”.
Reverend Adewole who is also the Vice Chairman, Kwara State Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN called on Christians to be righteous and religious as activities without religion is nothing, adding that Jesus Christ came over 2000 years ago and will still come back again to save believers.
Also at the Carol Service, Lessons were read by the Kwara State Head of Service, Mrs Susan Dupe Oluwole, who took the first lesson from Isaiah 9:6-7, the Deputy Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon Raphael Adetiba who read from the Book of Luke 2:10-11 and the Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi read from the Book of Mathew 1:22-23.
The Carol was attended by the former Deputy Governor, Chief Joel Ogundeji and his wife, members of the State Executive Council, Clergymen and top government functionaries.
In another Carol Service, at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Kwara State Command, the Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi also tasked all and sundry to give unto others gifts and love as the season is not all about singing, preaching, quoting the Bible Verses “but to show love to one and other for with love, one can conquer all evil”.
He appealed to all to pray for the success of the present administration and gave an assurance that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has good intentions and has started well but still needs more prayers to deliver on his mandate to the people.
Earlier, the State NSCDC, Commandant Ale Bello in his address of welcome, tasked Christians on sincere reflection on the teachings and practice of Jesus Christ during this celebration season and also urged them to demonstrate loyalty and submission towards God from what they have.
Similarly, at COZA Christmas carol, the Deputy Governor, Mr Alabi also tasked the youths on the need to encourage others to be deeply involved in Church activities rather than getting involved in drug abuses or other social vices.
Mr Alabi advised them to keep good relationship with God and human, while also charging them on skill acquisition which he described as the way forward and urged them to start small and build up.
