The Second ECWA Church, Agamo, Omu-Aran in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara, on Sunday held its annual service of songs dedicated to the remembrance of its late Choir Patron, Chief Jide Adebayo.
The church’s 34th Annual Service of Songs has the theme: “Look, He is Coming With the Cloud”.

The atmosphere in the church became emotional and guests at the service were moved to tears as the choir members dished out a special and dedicated song in remembrance of Adebayo.

Guests at the event included wife of late Adebayo, Alice, and members of the Olomu-In-Council led by the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Adeoti.

Others are: retired Maj.-Gen. Yemi Abidoye, President, Omu-Aran Development Association, and wife of the immediate past Olomu of Omu-Aran, Olori Omowumi Ibitoye.

Rev. Joshua Asonibare, the Minister In-charge of the Church, in his sermon, asked the gathering to be well prepared, through their sayings and deeds for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

He said present development in the society today are vivid pointer to the fact that the coming of Jesus Christ is very near and urged the gathering not to be taken unaware.

“Let’s behave like a true child of God and return to Him in righteousness so that we can gain the desired salvation.

“If we look at our immediate surroundings today and even far distance we will notice that every happening is a pointer to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

“Since death is inevitable, as true Christians let’s be spiritually guided in our utterances, behaviours and deeds so that at the end of the day we will have every cause to glorify His name,” he admonished.

Asonibare described Adebayo as a pillar of the church whose selfless contributions to its growth, progress and development could not be over emphasised and forgotten.

He commended Adebayo’s family and the people of Omu-Aran community for their dedication and commitment toward upscaling the legacies he left behind.

“Late Adebayo is a pillar who devoted his entire life to the service of God and humanity.

“He did his best for the church while alive and more importantly seeing to the welfare and wellbeing of the choir members was his priority as their patron.

“We pray that God will repose his soul, be with his family and give the community the fortitude to bear his irreparable loss,” Asonibare added.

Contributing, Oba Adeoti thanked the church leaders for the honour done to the late Adebayo’s family and the people of Omu-Aran through the service of songs.

He noted that the large entourage of members of the Omu-Aran traditional council was a mark of honour for its departed member who was the immediate past Eesa of Omu-Aran.

Adeoti, who described the death of Adebayo as a great loss to the people of the community, however, noted that the community was consoled with the impactful legacies he left behind.

Adebayo died Nov. 5, 2021, at the age of 66 during a brief illness.

Meanwhile, the wife of late Adebayo announced to the church that Nov. 4, has been chosen for the final burial ceremony for the former NAN Executive Director, Marketing.
