What appears as a family feud between the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Oturkpo Local Government Area in Benue state, Hon. Ijachi Odeh and his junior brother, Mr. Benjamin Eje over the control of economic and political powers at Ondo and Ogobia Ogboju communities in Oturkpo has taken a fatal dimension resulting to the loss of lives and property.
Investigation revealed that Ogobia community is said to be a migrant from Ondo in which it has grown to overshadow Ondo and is now seeking independence which the current Chairman of Oturkpo Local Government, Hon. Odeh said to be in total support of the move even before assuming the position of chairman which does not go down well with some factions of Ondo people led by Mr. Benjamin Eje and the former Secretary of Oturkpo local government council, Mr. Adakole Adanu.
It was gathered that this squabble led to crisis upon crisis in the two communities. Our informant said things got to its peak on 13th February, 2016 when Mr. Eje and Adanu were alleged to have brought in hired ‘mercenaries’ that unleashed mayhem in the community including causing body injuries on Hon. Odeh and his Police orderly as well as his supporters leading to the alleged death

The Chairman’s residence in the community was not spared as it was set ablaze by the invading arsonists.
A man who gave his name as Elder Agbo Lawani said All Progressives Congress, APC Chairman of Ogboju Ehaje ward, Mr. Ochekwu Ogbodo and two others were killed during the mayhem while some police men detailed to restore law and order sustained injuries

Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.

According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.

Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.

Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.

Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
