A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday sentenced two men to six months imprisonment each for criminal conspiracy, house breaking and theft.

The convicts, Abubakar Haruna, 22, and Mohammed Sani, 20, both residents of Kurmin Mashe in Kaduna State, earlier pleaded guilty to the charges.

The magistrate, Mr Benjamin Hassan, however, gave the convicts the option to pay N10, 000 fine each.

Prosecuting Insp. Chidi Leo had told the court that on Oct. 29, two complainants, Tukur Abdullahi and Maryam Shuaibu both residents of Nasfat Village Kurmin Mashe, reported the matter at Gabasawa Police Station..

He told the court that the convicts broke into the homes of Abdullahi and Maryam while both were away at work and stole their household properties.

He listed the stolen items to include one Samsung S8 tablet and one Samsung Galaxy tablet both valued at N189,000; three plasma television sets valued N450,000; one gold ring valued N140,000 and one I-tel phone valued N20,000.

Other items included Nokia and Infinix phones valued N60,000, Samsung Galaxy S8 phone valued N118,000, while the cost of damaged doors was put at N130,000.

The prosecutor said detectives traced one of the phones to the first convict, Haruna whose arrest led to the arrest of the second convict.
