The Group Managing Director/CEO of KAM Holding, Alhaji (Dr.) Kamoru Yusuf, has donated the sum of N20m to the Kwara state COVID-19 Technical Committee towards ensuring that the coronavirus pandemic ravaging the world does not spread to the state.
KAM Holding is an indigenous private company based in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, that has thousands of personnel, largely Nigerians, in its employment.
Represented by Mr. Bola Awojobi, the Company’s Executive Director, Corporate Services, Dr. Yusuf noted that since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria, various commendable measures have been adopted by the federal and state governments towards curtailing the spread of the infectious disease.
He specifically commended the “proactive and preventive measures embarked upon by the Kwara state government under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazak to ensure that the deadly virus is curtailed despite the fact that no case has been reported in the State of Harmony.
“It is pertinent to echo the painstaking efforts of the Kwara COVIID-19 Technical Committee led by Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi, for ensuring that appropriate measures are recommended and executed at this trying time in the collective interest of the people of the state and Nigeria in general.
“However, it is important for us to wake up to the reality that COVID-19, an invisible soldier, is real and most importantly, it is wreaking havoc globally as evident in the daily reports of cases recorded in different parts of the world. It is therefore necessary for us to heed to government’s movement restriction order, stay at home, social distancing, maintenance of public and personal hygiene in order to stay safe and be free from contracting the infectious disease.
“As a responsible and responsive corporate organisation, we have embarked on series of sensitisation and awareness mechanisms for our workers on the basic tenets of preventive measures against coronavirus spread in our society.
“We commiserate with members of the global community over the loss of their loved ones, we condole with the government and people of Kwara State over the death of a prominent Kwara-born medical doctor, Dr. Alfa Saadu Pategi who lost his life to COVID-19 recently in the United Kingdom and we wish all infected persons quick and total recovery.
“On behalf of my family, the entire management and staff of KAM HOLDING, I am pleased to donate the sum of TWENTY MILLION NAIRA (N20, 000,000) to the government and people of Kwara State as palliatives to cushion the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Responding, Chairman, Kwara state COVID-19 Technical Committee, Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi, thanked Dr. Yusuf for the donation, assuring him of judicious use of the donation for the purpose for which it was meant.
