The aftermath of the looting spree at the home of the former Speaker of the house of representatives, Yakubu Dogara has left in it’s trail a harvest of deaths suffered by the immidiate neighbourhood of Gwafan village, Jos  north LGA of Plateau state where his house is located.

Angry youths confirmed this during the burial of a 29 year old three hundred level biochemistry  undergraduate of the University of Jos,  Daniel Simon.

According to eye witnesses, the young man and about four others were killed by suspected special bike men of the security outfit in place for peace in the once fragile state,  Operation Safe Haven,OPSH.

A youth leader in the area who pleaded anonymity confirmed that a number of corpses have been recovered from an abandoned mining pond behind the house of the former Speaker.

The immidaite elder brother of the deceased, Iliya Simon who spoke with our correspondent said on that fateful day, some people who are not known in the neighbourhood stormed the area, located the former Speaker’s house and began looting.

Surprised as they were, they moved out from their houses to see what was going on then the security men arrived and began to chase them away.

The late Daniel and some of his friends were running, but the soldiers reportedly chased them towards the dam and shot him directly on his face and threw him into the pond.

Family sources began to search for his whereabouts including the places some arrested suspected looters were taken but there was no trace of the young man.

Days later, he said the corpse pop up from the dam and was floating that was when they discovered he had been shot and killed with his face mangled.

Sources at the village confirmed that all the victims that were recovered had various degrees of bullet wounds and others with marchette cuts across their faces or on the back.

The community has invited the human rights body, who also visited the morgue where the corpses were deposited to see for themselves and their action was being awaited.

A call put across to the information officer of the OPSH, Maj. Ibrahim Shittu was not answered; including a text message which was also not acknowledged at the time of filling in this report.
