Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has invited the Department of State Services (DSS) to join the police in investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the young music star, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
In a statement by the state Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, the governor called on anyone with information that could assist the investigation to come forward and share what they know. He also emphasized the need for the investigating team to ensure the safety and anonymity of all witnesses providing vital information.
The statement read, “The Lagos State Government expresses condolences to the family and fans of the late music star Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (aka Mohbad). We understand the pain of losing such a talented and promising young man who had made a name for himself in a highly competitive industry. May his soul rest in peace, and may his bereaved family and fans find comfort.
“Following Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s directive, the Lagos State Police have launched a significant investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death. A 19-member police panel has been tasked with uncovering the mystery of the musician’s passing.
“Furthermore, to enhance the investigation, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has invited the Department of State Services (DSS) to participate in the inquiry, expanding the effort through inter-agency collaboration and the use of advanced technology to uncover the truth.
“Mr. Sanwo-Olu has instructed that all individuals who may have played any role in any event leading to Mohbad’s death be held accountable after a thorough investigation.
“As a result, the Department of State Services (DSS) has also joined the investigation to seek justice for the young artist, his family, and his devoted fans.
“The government appeals to anyone with crucial information that may aid the investigation to come forward and assist the investigative team.
“Additionally, the government urges the investigating team to ensure the confidentiality and protection of all witnesses who may provide essential information or indicative evidence.
“The government calls on friends and fans of the deceased to remain calm and avoid making inflammatory statements or premature judgments. Keeping calm and following the process carefully will be the most respectful way to honor the memory of the departed talent.
“Furthermore, the grieving family should be given the space to mourn their loss in peace. This is undoubtedly a challenging time for all of us – the government, the family, and Mohbad’s fans. Any actions that could exacerbate their grief should be avoided.
“The Police and the DSS have been instructed to provide periodic updates to the public regarding their progress in the investigation.”
