Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA) has screened and confirmed the last batch of commissioner nominees whose names where among the 26 sent to the assembly by the state governor, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for consideration.
Moving the motion for confirmation was the Majority Leader, Hon. Engr. Emeka Nwaobi, and was jointly seconded by the members representing the eight nominees of their various constituencies in the assembly.
Those screened and confirmed included Mr. Jerry Ehiwario, Dr Kingsley Ashibuogwu, Darlington Ijeh, Emamusi Obiodeh and Perez Omoun Esq.
Others were Agbateyimiro Isaac Weyinmi, Etagherure Ejiro Terry and Jamani Tommy Ejiro.
Congratulating the confirmed commissioners the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor urged the them to remain committed to the service of the state and work for the realisation of the MORE Agenda of the state governor.
He also commended the lawmakers for their dedication and commitment in ensuring that the all the commissioner nominees where thoroughly screened before being confirmed.
Also, during plenary, the House received a letter nominating the Chairman and members for the reconstitution of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission DESIEC from Governor Oborevwori.
The nominees are Dr. Jerry Agbaike as Chairman, Mr James Eruorhevwameme Umukoro, Mr Friday Edmund Seimode, Mrs Light Oritseweyinmi Diden, Mr Imasua Azogbulem, Mr Chris Onwuma and Chief Frank Eyan Oru as members.
The nominees were requested to submit 35 copies of their respective curriculum vitae (CVs) to the office of the Clerk on or before Monday September 4, 2023 and appear for screening on Tuesday September 5 2023.
Another letter received from the state governor was the nomination of Chairman and members for the reconstitution of the Delta State Local Government Service Commission (DESLGSC).
The nominees are Hon Joseph Otirhue as Chairman, Mr Anslem Nwoken, Dame Princess Minnie Ajuwede Igbrude and Mrs Philomena Ededey as members.
The nominees were requested to submit 35 copies of their respective curriculum vitae (CVs) to the office of the Clerk on or before Monday, September 4, 2023 and appear for screening on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
The House also gave approval to the request of the governor for the development of 2.5MW, Delta State Independent Power Project IPP at Owa-Alero in Ika North East Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking in favour of the power project was the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Engr. Emeka Nwaobi, who said that the IPP Project would enhance productivity in the local government area as well as generate electricity to power some critical government institutions, establishments and also ensure that no power generated was wasted.
The approval was unanimously supported.
