Ebonyi gov’s wife, AE-FUTHA offer free healthcare to indigent Persons

Wife of Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs MaryMaudlin Uzoamaka Nwifuru in partnership with Alex-Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki (AE-FUTHA) have offered free healthcare to citizens of Oferekpe in Izzi Local Government Area of the state.

Mrs Nwifuru through her pet project Better Health for Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced Persons Foundation (BERWO) with AE-FUTHA, WHO, UNICEF organised the free medical outreach.

The wife of the Governor, who was represented by Dr. Mrs Nkechi Echegu said that the exercise was to step down the mandate of her project to provide better health for rural dwellers.

She restated the commitment of her foundation to continue to positively touch lives of the people in the state

In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of AE-FUTHA, Professor Robinson Onoh, said that the exercise was to fulfill the desire of Mrs Nwifuru in providing basic health care delivery at the grassroots.

Onoh stated that his team would be providing eye, dental, general body screenings, also paediatrics and surgical among other medical checks.

He said that the exercise would be carried out to the 13 LGAs of the state.

In their separate remarks, Mrs Vivian Ibeako, State Coordinator of World Health Organisation,WHO, and Mrs Comfort Nweke, Commended wife of the Ebonyi state Governor for her efforts and assured to continue to support her initiatives.

The Beneficiaries, Nwibo Sylvester and Nwaka Nwebonyi appreciated the wife of the Governor for the exercise and appealed for the programme to be sustained.
