Election Postponement: NYPF to subsidize transport for members

By Ere-ebi Agedah
In order to stem the tide of voter apathy following a sudden postponement of last Saturday’s presidential and house of representative’s election, a group of young professionals under the aegis of the Nigerian Young Professionals Forum, NYPF, has offered to subsidize transportation of its teeming members across Nigeria so as to ensure that they participate in the rescheduled election holding on 23rd February.
While decrying the last-minute postponement of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, NYPF said as long as the postponement is for the best interest of Nigeria, the postponement is a welcomed development.
The group noted that, although, many Nigerians had travelled to different locations at huge cost to themselves, the wait will be worth it at the end of the day.
In a statemen issued in Abuja today, the Chairman of NYPF, Moses Siloko Siasia urged every Nigerian, for the sake of protecting national interest, to fully participate in the election at the rescheduled date.
Siasia explained that the NYPF, understands the huge cost associated with travelling to voting points hence has concluded arrangements to take up fifty percent of the total cost of traveling for all its members in Nigeria.
“this gesture is in our sound believe that we owe our country this duty of electing the right people, and we cannot elect the right people except we participate in the process. We are sure that with this support of 50 percent of travelling cost to our members, we would have assisted so many people to fulfil their dreams of voting their preferred candidates.
“In pursuance of these objectives, I therefore urge other interest groups and associations to see to it that they also support Nigerians who are keen to vote in this election. What we are giving is a small token which we believe that if everyone does the same, our country will be better for it” he said.
It will be recalled that after midnight on 16th general 2019, planned date for election, the Independent National Election Commission, INEC, without prior notice, called off the already fixed election to the disappointment of most electorates, especially those who had to travel kilometers to their respective voting centers.
The Nigerian Young Professionals Forum, NYPF, is a body of young professional in Nigeria which is committed to promoting and protecting the interest of the country through dialogue and strategic engagement of key stakeholders in nation building, amongst other roles.

Pius Akutah’s Alleged Fraud at Nigerian Shippers Council Uncovered
Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.
According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.
Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.
Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.
Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
