Nigeria’s Ambassador to China, Ambassador Baba Ahmad Jidda on Tuesday advocated for closer focus on Nigeria by China, Europe and Africa on renewable energy and digital economy.
A release from Nigeria’s Consular in China, quoted Jidda as speaking at the China-Europe-Africa Green Energy Development Forum in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province in China, where the envoy observed that the fragile echo system requires greater collaboration amongst global partners to avert catastrophe.

With the theme, theme: “Response to Climate change and promotion of Green Energy Common Development of China-Europe-Africa”, Ambassador Jidda, emphasized the importance of renewable energy and digital economy to the economic and human development in Nigeria. He pointed out that climate change is a matter of concern which if not addressed properly would continue to be a potential danger to the friendly ecosystem and global economic development.

Ambassador Jidda highlighted the long bilateral relationship between Nigeria and China, and thanked the Chinese Government for their continued support and assistance to Africa, Nigeria in particular, and the opportunities for the country to explore new economic potentialities. He lauded the Chinese Government under the leadership of President Xi Jinping for its, commitment, in green energy sector which he said is a giant stride towards the realization of zero carbon emission in the near future.

He pointed out that Nigeria as the largest African economy is committed to the agreement on climate change and is well endowed with renewable and non-renewable energy resources in commercial quantity which if utilized would be one of the country’s sources of economic development.

He therefore called for the support and cooperation of all stakeholders in the forum for Nigeria to achieve the renewable and digital economy agenda.
