“Everton Docked Further Two Points for Financial Rules Breach”

Everton Football Club incurs a further two-point deduction for breaching the Premier League’s financial regulations, announced on Monday. This penalty, added to a previous six-point deduction, places the Merseyside club dangerously close to the relegation zone, with only a slim margin of two points separating them. An independent commission, following a three-day hearing, imposed the immediate two-point deduction after considering evidence and arguments presented by the club. Everton reported a staggering £89.1 million loss for the 2022/23 season, a significant increase from the previous season’s £44.7 million deficit. The club attributed the loss partly to the indefinite suspension of key sponsorship deals. Majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri expressed confidence in the club’s future, anticipating completion of the takeover by 777 Partners and plans to move to a new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock by the 2025/26 season.
