The FCT Police Command launched a proactive operation on Monday, targeting suspected kidnappers’ hideouts and routes nestled within the hills and thickets surrounding Apo Resettlement in Abuja.
In a statement released on Wednesday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, it was disclosed that the operation was led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh himself.
“On April 1, 2024, at approximately 11 am, operatives of the FCT Police Command, under the leadership of CP Benneth Igweh, executed a clearance operation in the hills and dense vegetation surrounding Zone A and B of Apo Resettlement and its vicinity. This operation aimed to establish heightened security measures in an area identified as potential kidnappers’ routes and criminal hideouts,” the statement explained.
The operation involved the demolition of illegal structures and clearance of vegetation in the vicinity of the hills. Additionally, police personnel were strategically deployed for surveillance patrols, effectively securing the entry and exit points to these areas.
CP Igweh urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities. This proactive approach underscores the commitment of the FCT Police Command to ensuring the safety and security of residents in the region.
