The Federal Government, through its Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, has expressed intentions to adopt innovative financing methods for tertiary education. This includes bestowing universities with the autonomy to identify and tap into novel funding avenues. Prof. Mamman shared these insights during the Nigeria’s Annual Education Conference (NAEC) in Abuja. The conference’s theme, ‘Implementation of Education 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Nigeria’, aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision for education.
Emphasizing the importance of the theme, the minister stated that it will remain pertinent until Nigeria meets all benchmarks of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 and the Agenda 2060 by the African Union.
Prof. Mamman reinforced Nigeria’s dedication to these goals, emphasizing the significance of the education sector in ensuring alignment with the SDGs. He further stressed the need for robust strategies coupled with continuous monitoring and evaluation mechanisms.
