FG Approves Three Key Policies to Transform Civil Service

The Federal Government has approved three landmark policies aimed at revolutionizing Nigeria’s civil service — the Rewards and Recognition Policy, Incentive and Consequence Management Policy, and Civil Service Mentoring Policy.
The approval, granted at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting chaired by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, marks a major step toward building a performance-driven and accountable public service that motivates workers, enhances productivity, and improves service delivery to citizens.
According to the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, the new policies align with one of the six pillars of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021–2025 (FCSSIP25) — Staff Welfare and Enhanced Value Proposition. They also conform with the 2021 Public Service Rules (060101–060111).
In a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Mrs. Eno Olotu, Walson-Jack commended President Tinubu for his steadfast commitment to reforming the civil service and promoting a workplace culture that is Efficient, Productive, Incorruptible, and Citizen-Centric (EPIC).
She noted that the Rewards and Recognition Policy provides a framework to attract, develop, and retain top talent while fostering innovation and excellence across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
The Incentive and Consequence Management Policy introduces a fair and transparent system where exceptional performance is rewarded and underperformance addressed through constructive measures, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement.
Meanwhile, the Civil Service Mentoring Policy focuses on grooming future leaders through structured mentorship, knowledge transfer, and ethical leadership development to preserve institutional memory and ensure long-term continuity.
Walson-Jack emphasized that the policies represent more than administrative reform — they are the foundation for building a modern, agile, and empowered civil service capable of driving Nigeria’s national development goals.
She assured civil servants that their efforts will now be better recognized, excellence rewarded, and professional growth supported as the government works toward creating a world-class public service system.

The Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of , Hon. Inuwa Bwala, on behalf of the management and staff, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of veteran journalist and pioneer editor of the newspaper, Abdulazeez Suleiman.
Bwala also extended condolences to Suleiman’s family, associates and the Nigerian media industry, describing his passing as a monumental loss at a time his experience, courage and service to the nation were still greatly needed.
Suleiman reportedly died shortly before a scheduled surgery.

Though his voice has now gone silent, the values and ideals he stood for will continue to inspire generations. His legacy as a principled journalist, advocate and patriot will endure in the hearts of many whose lives he touched through his work and humanity.
