FMC Keffi Raises Alarm over unclaimed Corpses, Issues 2 Weeks Deadline For 9 unclaimed corpses

Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Keffi has issued a two weeks ultimatum for the claiming of 9 corpses left lying in it’s mortuary or be left with the option of giving the copses mass burial.

This was contained in a statement signed by Miss Esther Bature, Public Relations Officer of the medical centre and made available to newsmen in Keffi local government area of Nasarawa state on Friday.

According to the Spokesperson, the decision by the management of the medical centre to issue the deadline is due to the fact that some of the corpse were brought in 2021 and others in 2022, thereby exceeding the time limit of 6 months permitted by law.

“Consequently members of the public who lost their loved ones during the stated period indicated herein, may please, visit the hospital’s morgue for possible identification and claim,” she said.

She reiterated that at expiration of the two weeks deadline starting from Friday, September 22, 2023, the medical centre will be left with no option than to give the 9 corpses a mass burial.
