… As He reopens Monguno — Baga highway after two years, patrol vehicles to Army

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum convoy came under armed attack on Thursday even as he flagged up the reopening of Monguno — Baga highway to motorist.
Sssisted by the sector three (3) Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Brigadier General Garba, the Governor emphasized that the entire Borno must be freed from Boko Haram attacks.
Governor Zulum who led hundreds of residents of Kukawa, Cross and Baga to their ancestral towns, two years after occupation by Boko Haram, said people must stop playing the ostrich with the Boko Haram issue.
Before leaving Monguno to Baga Governor Babagana Umara Zulum had presented 12 patrol vehicles to the Nigerian Army and the Civilian JTF to reinforce their operational capabilities.
While in Baga, Governor Zulum and his entourage were attacked by gunmen despite the repeated claim by the brigade Commander in Charge of Baga town there’s no Boko Haram in the town.
Zulum was furious that despite huge number of the military presence in Mile 4, which is only four five kilometers away from Baga, they couldn’t take over Baga after one year, to the extent that even his entourage was forced to retreat.
“You have been here for over one year now, there are 1,181 soldiers here, if you cannot take over baga which is less than 5 km from your base. Then we should forget about baga, I will inform the Chief of Staff to redeploy the men to other places that they can be useful.” Zulum said.
“You people said there’s no Boko Haram here, then who attacked us? I doubt if there is any Boko Haram in this town, I can go in and sleep here. Asked the Governor.
The Governor who was on a humanitarian tour to the northern have since returned safely with his entourage to Monguno.
