Governor Masari Seeks Partnership With The US

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of katsina State has called for closer ties with the United States of America to strengthen four key areas of the state economy.
Masari was speaking when he received the counsellor for Economic Affairs in the Embassy of United States, Mr Alan Tousignant who paid him a visit in katsina.
The Governor explained that the current administration had identified four key areas of education, Agriculture, Health and water supply for immediate attention and intervention.
According to him, the needs and Challenges of Nigeria in the sixties are still the same confronting the present APC administration and begging for solutions.
In an effort to boost the economic Sector, the governor announced that an economic summit scheduled for next month of which president Muhammad Buhari has graciously accepted to declare opened will take place.
He therefore requested the visiting US delegation to attend the summit to learn more about the potential investment climate in katsina State.
Masari told the US delegation that katsina State is now polio free, adding that the state government would pursue more Health Programmes for the well being of the People.
He added that the APC administration at all levels is committed to the promotion of human Capital development as well as good governance for a better nation.
The governor implored them to invite more investors to participate in the agricultural, Industrial and commercial development of katsina State.
Contributing, the secretary to the government, Dr Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa, informed the visitors that America had in the 1950s Contributed to the development of Rugu forest reserve, which led to the provision of dams and other structures along with Runka Dairy plant supplying milk and cheese to People then.
Dr Mustapha Inuwa therefore called for similar Contribution from the American government to revive Rugu forest reserve.
Earlier, the counsellor for Economic Affairs in the Embassy of the United States of America, Mr Alan Tousignant said they were in katsina on a goodwill visit to learn more about the state.
Mr Alan Tousignant spoke extensively about the window of opportunities that are existing in the United States of America, adding that they have already visited a number of places, including Jibia border to see for themselves.
