Kwara state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has debunked a publication by unnamed bodies claiming that the state CAN has instructed its members not to vote for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in the forthcoming March 11 governorship election.

In a statement issued in Ilorin on Monday by the state Chairman and Secretary of the Christian body, Rt. Reverend STG Adewole and Apostle (Barrister) Shina Ibiyemi respectively, CAN said: “With all sense of responsibility, CAN Kwara State Chapter categorically denies this publication. There has been no meeting or decision by CAN Kwara State to go against the 2nd term ambition of His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, a Governor who is daily doing his best to correct the wrongs of the past, neither would we instruct our members not to vote for him. Kwara CAN has not said that and we will not say such a thing.

“We can only assume that this publication is aimed at generating unnecessary religious animosity along Christian/Moslem lines against the policy and inclination of CAN Kwara.

“We urge all and sundry to eschew discord and embrace peace before, during and after the elections.”
