Journalists Boycott Yobe Govt House Activities

***Accuse Gov’s Spokesman of Neglect.

Members of the correspondents chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ,in Yobe State have decided to give a blackout to activities around the state Governor, Mai Mala Buni.
The decision follows a meeting of the chapel, where they observed that security operatives attached to the Government House have often been hostile to Journalists covering the activities of the Governor, Mai Mala Buni.
A press statement signed by Ahmad Abba and Michael Oshoma, Chairman and secretary of the Nuj chapel, the journalists complained that spokesman of the Governor, Mamman Mohammed has never deemed it necessary to invite them formally for coverage of Government activities.
According to the statement, harassment of it’s members by security operatives attached to the Governor has become too rampant and the degree of neglect by the Governor’s spokesman to allow them perform their legitimate duties, have reached intolerable level, hence the need to show their anger.
While also citing lack of accessibility to the state Governor to verify issues and the seeming insensitivity of the Governor’s media nanagers left them with no option than to shut out Government activities from their reportage.
The journalist further stated that, Governor Buni, on the advice of his handlers always address journalist from outside his state, even as Chairman of the APC Extra ordinary Caretaker and convention committee, and Govetnor if Yobe State,while leaving journalists covering the home front out.
The statement directed it’s members to desist from reporting activities of Governor Mai Mala Buni forthwith, untill the issues are r solved.
