Kaduna Assembly Passes N107 Billion Budget for 23 Local Government Councils

The Kaduna State House of Assembly has approved a budget of N107.72 billion for the 23 Local Government Councils of the state.

During the plenary session on Tuesday, the Assembly also passed an amendment to the Local Government Law No. 3 of 2018.

The legislative decisions came after the adoption of reports presented by Shehu Yunusa, Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation and Implementation, and Nasiru Yunusa, Chairman of the Joint Committee on Local Government, Rural Development, and Judiciary.

In addition to the budget approval, the Assembly also considered a bill for the establishment of the Mental Health Service Department, which has passed the second reading.

The bill aims to promote and safeguard the rights of individuals with intellectual, psycho-social, or cognitive disabilities, and to provide regulations for mental health and related matters.

Speaker Yusuf Liman adjourned the sitting to Wednesday, marking a continuation of the legislative agenda.
